Adiponectin is a multimeric adipocyte-specific secretory protein that regulates energy homeostasis, lipid metabolism, and insulin sensitivity with direct anti-diabetic, anti-atherogenic and anti-inflammatory properties. Adiponectin predominantly inhibits proliferation of myelomonocytic lineage cells and is an important negative regulator in hematopoiesis and immune systems (1, 2). Adiponectin is reported to possibly function as an endogenous factor involved in lipid catabolism and storage or whole body metabolism (3). It is decreased in obesity and has been demonstrated to inhibit tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha)-induced expression of endothelial adhesion molecules. Adiponectin modulates the inflammatory response of endothelial cells, possibly through cross talk between cAMP-PKA and NF-kappaB signaling pathways (4). Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:5000-1:10000 Immunoprecipitation: 1:50 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Manufactured incorporating RabMAb(R) technology under Epitomics US patents, No 5,675,063 and 7,429,487, owned by Abcam.
