Celecoxib is a highly selective COX-2 inhibitor and primarily inhibits prostaglandin production. Celecoxib is approximately 7.6-fold more selective for COX-2 inhibition over COX-1. This specificity allows celecoxib to reduce inflammation and pain while minimizing gastrointestinal adverse drug reactions (e.g. stomach ulcers) that are common with non-selective non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Melting Point: 160-162C Solubility: Soluble in DMSO at 200mg/ml and Ethanol at 100mg/ml. Poorley soluble in water. Storage and Stability: May be stored at RT for short-term only. Long-term storage is recommended at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap.
