Forskolin is a powerful activator of adenyklate cyclase, resulting in an increase of intracellular cAMP concentration.1,2 Activates adenylate cyclase leading to an increase in the intracellular concentration of cAMP. Widely used tool for the investigation of the role of cAMP as a second messenger with a broad range of potential therapeutic applications. Inotropic agent and vasodilator. Induces platelet aggregation. Inhibits ion channels by a mechanism that does not involve cAMP. Non-competitive inhibitor of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. Purity: (same/more than) 99% TLC (NP, DCM, methanol 95:5) (same/more than) 99% TLC (RP C18, methanol, H2O 9:1) Detection, spray with H2SO4 and heat Stability: Light sensitive Melting Point: 228-230 degrees C Specific Rotation: -26.19 Solubility: Solubility (10mg/ml Ethyl acetate): Clear, colorless solution. Soluble in ethanol, chloroform and DMSO. Note: Various solvents including ethanol, inhibited the forskolin activation of adenylate cyclase. Recommended to use DMSO at concentrations of < 5%. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20 degrees C. Stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer or ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
