Cayman's STAT-8-isoprostane EIA is a competitive assay that permits the rapid measurement of 8-iso PGF2(alpha) from biological samples, requiring only 1 hour incubation and development times for each step. This assay format is similar to that employed in Cayman's original 8-isoprostane EIA (Item No. 516351) with the only change being the use of an alkaline phosphatase tracer in place of an AChE tracer. While Item No. 516351 offers superior sensitivity (IC50 = ~35 pg/ml), the STAT-8-isoprostane assay offers the convenience of a fast assay while still achieving an IC50 value of 180 pg/ml and a detection limit (80% B/B0) of approximately 45 pg/ml.

Additional info: The isoprostanes are a family of eicosanoids of non-enzymatic origin produced by the random oxidation of tissue phospholipids by oxygen radicals. At least one of the isoprostanes, 8-isoprostane (8-iso PGF2.alpha.), has biological activity and has implicated as a causative mediator and specific marker of free radical-induced damage in a variety of diseases related to oxidative stress. Cayman Chemical's STAT-8-isoprostane EIA is a competitive assay that permits the rapid measurement of 8-iso PGF2.alpha. from biological samples, requiring only 1 hour incubation and development times for each step. This assay format is the similar to that employed in Cayman's popular 8-isoprostane EIA (Catalog No. 5126351) with the only change being the use of an alkaline phosphatase tracer in place of an AChE tracer.
