17-Hydroxyprogesterone (17-HO-P) immunoassay kit quantitatively measures 17-HO-P and its metabolites in urine and fecal samples, tissue culture medium, and in extracted serum and plasma. 17-HO-P is species independent
Samples and standards are added to a 96-well microtiter plate coated with capture antibodies, followed by secondary antibody 17-HO-P-peroxidase conjugate. The binding reaction is initiated by the addition of a polyclonal antibody specific to 17-HO-P. The plate is incubated for 1 hour, washed, and substrate added. The substrate reacts with the bound 17-HO-P-peroxidase conjugate to generate a color change. The color is measured at 450 nm wavelength.
17-HO-P is produced mainly in the adrenal glands and to some degree in the gonads, specially the corpus luteum of the ovary
