a-Fetoprotein (AFP, Alpha1-fetoprotein, Alpha-fetoglobulin, Alpha-fetoprotein precursor, FETA, HPAFP)

Alpha Fetoprotein (AFP) is normally synthesized in the liver, intestinal tract, and yolk sac of the fetus. Antibody to AFP has been shown to be useful in detecting hepatocellular carcinomas (HCC) and germ cell neoplasms, especially yolk sac tumors. Excellent for immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 1:50 for 2hrs at RT\n\nImmunohistochemistry: (Formalin/paraffin) 1:50-1:100 for 30min at RT. No special pretreatment is required for the immunohistochemical staining of formalin/paraffin tissues.\n\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nMW of Antigen: \n70kD\n\nPositive Control: \nHepG2 cells, Fetal liver or hepatocellular carcinoma.\n\nCellular Localization: \nCytoplasmic\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
