Adipose Triglyceride Lipase (ATGL, Desnutrin, Phospholipase A2 zeta)

Triglycerides are the most efficient form of energy storage in mammalian adipose tissue during times of caloric excess. ATGL is one of the key enzymes involved in the mobilization of fatty acids from triglyceride stores in adipose tissue, catalyzing the conversion of triacylglycerols to diacylglycerols. Inhibition of ATGL markedly decreases total adipose acyl-hydrolase activity, and thus may be a potential drug target for the diabetic pathology. ATGL mRNA is detected in a wide range of tissues including adipose, lung, skeletal muscle, testis, heart, brain, and kidney, with adipose tissue expressing the highest level. \nHuman ATGL is 504 amino acids in length with an estimated molecular weight of 55.2kD. \n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. \n\nRecommended Dilution:\nImmunohistochemistry (paraffin and frozen sections): 4ug/ml.\nWestern Blot: 1:200. Detects a band at 56kD from tissues and cells such as brown fat, liver, murine macrophages, and HepG2 cells.\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. \n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
