AGT (Angiotensinogen, Serpin A8, SERPINA8)

The human AGT gene product, pre-angiotensinogen, is expressed in the liver and is cleaved by the enzyme renin in response to lowered blood pressure. The resulting product, angiotensin I is then cleaved by angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) to generate the physiologically active enzyme angiotensin II. Human pre-angiotensinogen is encoded by two mRNAs that differ only in the length of the 3'-untranslated region due to postulated use of two polyadenylation sites. There may also be alternative initiation codons (nucleotides 40-42 and 67-69). AGT is involved in maintaining blood pressure and in the pathogenesis of essential hypertension and preeclampsia.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 1:500-1:1000\nImmunohistochemistry (Formalin fixed paraffin embedded): 5ug/ml\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
