Akt3 (RAC-PK Gamma)

Cat no: A1125-35

Akt3 (RAC-PK Gamma)

Akt, protein kinase B (PKB), is a serine/threonine kinase which is involved in many cellular signaling pathways and acts as a transducer of many functions initiated by growth factor receptors that activat phosphtidylinositol 3-kinase (PI 3-kinase). The major activity of Akt/PKB is to mediate cell survival. Akt/PKB is also believed to be a critical factor in the genesis of cancer as the tumor suppressor PTEN was found to antagonise PI-3 kinase and Akt/PKB kinase activity. There are 3 known isoforms of this enzyme in mammalian cells (1/alpha, 2/beta and 3/gamma). Akt1, 2 and 3 contain a key regulatory serine phosphorylation site in the carboxy-terminal region of the protein. Akt/PKB phosphorylation is critical for it activity. \n\n\nApplications:\nThis antibody can be used for detection of AKT3 in human, mouse and rat by western blot analysis. A protein band of approximate molecular weight of 50kD will be detected. \n\nRecommended Dilution: \nWestern blot: 1-2ug/ml\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
