Serum albumin is the major plasma protein, and therefore regulates the colloidal osmotic pressure of blood. It also has a high capacity for binding water, calcium, sodium,Porcineotassium, fatty acids, hormones, bilirubin and drugs. Defects in serum albumin are a cause of familial dysalbuminemic hyperthyro, Xenopus/Amphibian,inemia (FDH), a form of euthyroid hyperthyro, Xenopus/Amphibian,inemia that is due to increased affinity of albumin for T(4). This antibody recognizes human serum albumin in ELISA and Western blotting.
