Accumulation of the amyloid-b peptide (Ab) in the cerebral cortex is a critical event in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. The b-amyloid protein precursor (APP) is cleaved by b-secretase, resulting in a soluble derivative of the protein and a membrane anchored 99-amino acid carboxy-terminal fragment (C99). The C99 fragment serves as substrate for g-secretase to generate the 4 kD amyloid-b peptide (Ab), that is deposited in the brain of patients of Alzheimer's disease.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nImmunohistochemistry (paraffin): 1:50-1:100\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nPositive Control:\nBrain\n\nCellular Localization: \nCytoplasmic and extracellular\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
