The Androgen Receptor (Androgen R) is a 90kD steroid hormone receptor that is critical for the development and function of the male reproductive system. Androgen R binding to testosterone or 5alpha-dihydrotestosterone (DHT) triggers receptor dimerization followed by translocation to the nucleus where it promotes transcription of androgen responsive genes. Multiple polymorphisms in Androgen R are linked to the development of prostate cancer. The ligand binding domain of human Androgen R (aa661-920) shares 100% aa sequence identity with mouse and rat Androgen R.
Applications:
Suitable for use in ELISA and Flow Cytometry. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:
Flow Cytometry: 25ug/ml, 10ul labels 1-2.5 x 10e5 cells in a total reaction volume < 200ul.
Direct ELISA: 0.5-1ug/ml. The detection limit is ~1ng/well.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Hybridoma:
Mouse myeloma cells with B cells obtained from a mouse immunized with purified, E. coli-derived, recombinant human Androgen R (aa661-920).
Storage and Stability:
Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20 degrees C. Stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
