NGEP is a 933aa protein belonging to the TMEM16 family and consisting of TM16H1, TM16H2 and TM16H3 domains. Artificial human TMEM16G (844T) consists of eight-transmembrane proteins. Two NGEP proteins are encoded as a result of splicing. It plays an important role in cell-cell interactions. NGEP acts as a promising immunotherapy target for prostate cancer and is highly expressed in epithelial cells of the prostate (at protein level).
