Mouse Anti-Adenovirus Monoclonal antibody for ELISA, IF. Suitable for use in ELISA and IFA. Direct FA staining of target antigen in a permissive tissue culture system. Acetone fixation of the antigen source is recommended prior to staining. Each laboratory should determine an optimum working titer for use in its particular application. Other applications have not been tested but use in such assays should not necessarily be excluded.Adenovirusesare DNA viruses generally widespread in nature that are frequently the causeof acute upper respiratory tract infections (i.e. common colds). Forty-sevenknown serotypes have been isolated since they were first discovered in 1953with 3 types known to cause gastroenteritis. Several types have oncogenicpotential though most cause self-limiting febrile illnesses characterised byinflammation of conjunctivae and the respiratory tract. The virus can beisolated from the majority of tonsils/adenoids surgically removed, indicatinglatent infections. It is not known how long the virus can persist in thebody, or whether it is capable of reactivation after long periods. Inpatients experiencing immunosuppression (e.g. AIDS) it can be reactivatedcausing disease.
