Rabbit Anti-Mouse Decorin polyclonal antibody for IHC, WB. Decorin (UniProt P28654; also known as Bone proteoglycan II, PG40, PG-S2) is encoded by the Dcn (also known as DC, DSPG2, mDcn, PGII, SLRR1B) gene (Entrez Gene ID 13179) in murine. Decorin is a pericellular matrix proteoglycan structurally related to two other small proteoglycans, biglycan and fibromodulin. Decorin and biglycan are thought to be the result of a gene duplication. Decorin contains one attached glycosaminoglycan chain, while biglycan contains two chains. Decorin modulates collagen fibril formation as well as the bioactivity of various members of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGFbeta) superfamily. Decorin is initially translated as a preproprotein with an N-terminal signal peptide (aa1-16) and propeptide (aa17-30) sequence. Sequential removal of the signal peptide and the propeptide sequence produces pro- and mature decorin, respectively.
