Sheep anti-Human IgG Fd polyclonal antibody for RID, IEP.. Suitable for use in a variety of gel techniques including radial immunodiffusion (RID), double diffusion and immunoelectrophoresis (IEP). The use of 3% PEG 6000 with 1.2% agarose in a suitable buffer (such as TBE or Tris-barbital pH 8.2) is recommended. Each laboratory should determine an optimum working titer for use in its particular application. Other applications have not been tested but use in such assays should not necessarily be excluded.Protein A is asurface protein of S.aureus which binds IgG molecules by their Fc region. Inserum, the bacteria will bind IgG molecules in thewrongorientation on their surface which hinders opsonization and phagocytosis.Mutants of S. aureus lacking protein A are more efficiently phagocytosed invitro, and mutants in infection models have diminished virulence.Due to itsaffinity for the Fc region of many mammalian immunoglobulins, protein A isconsidered a universal reagent in biochemistry and immunology.
