Dehydrated culture media suitable for the microbial assay and detection of antibiotics in milk and plate counts in pharmaceutical products. Formulated in acordance with the specifications and protocols as listed by the FDA, Grove and Randall and USP 23.
The activity of an antibiotic can be demonstrated under suitable conditions by its inhibitory effect on organisms. Antibiotic assays are performed by the cylinder plate method and the turbidimetric assay. These media has been formulated according to the specifications and procedures listed by the Food and Drug Administration, European Pharmacopeia, Code of Federal Regulations, and the USP.
Directions per Liter:
Dissolve 17.5 grams per liter of distilled/deionized water, heating with stirring until completely solubilized. Dispense into appropriate containers, loosen caps and autoclave for 15-30 minutes at 121C (15 psi).
Storage and Stability:
Store powdered media at RT. Opened bottles should be capped tightly and kept in a dark, low humidity environment. Prepared media should be kept at 4 degrees C and used within a short period of time.
