APG12L (ATG12, Ubiquitin-like Protein ATG12, Autophagy-related Protein 12, APG12-like, APG12)

Autophagy is a process of bulk protein degradation in which cytoplasmic components, including organelles, are enclosed in double-membrane structures called autophagosomes and delivered to lysosomes or vacuoles for degradation. APG12L is the human homologue of yeast APG12, a ubiquitin-activating enzyme E1-like protein essential for the conjugation system that mediates membrane fusion in autophagy. The protein possesses 27% identity and 48% similarity with the yeast APG12p. Northern blot analysis confirms the ubiquitous expression of the protein in human tissues. The gene encoding human APG12L protein is localized on chromosome 5q21-q22.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nELISA: 1:100-1:1000\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
