Apolipoprotein E serves as a ligand for low density receptors and participates in the transport and redistribution of cholesterol and other lipids. Other functions include immunoregulation and cell growth modulation and differentiation. Apo E is thought to be involved in tissue repair as increase amounts of the protein are found at sites or peripheral nerve injury and regeneration. A mutant form is associated with familial type hyperlipoproteinemia.
Applications:
Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot. Other Applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions:
ELISA: 1:32,000
Immunohistochemistry (paraffin): 2-4ug/ml
Western Blot: 0.1-0.3ug/ml ~36kDa band observed in Human Brain lysates (calculated MW of 36.2kDa according to NP_000032.1).
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher
Positive Control:
Human Brain and liver cells
Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 monthsat -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Peptide Blocking:
Corresponding peptide is available for Peptide Blocking studies. See A2299-75E-P. Antibody
