This amyloid beta A4 protein precursor (APP) gene encodes a cell surface receptor and transmembrane precursor protein that is cleaved by secretases to form a number of peptides (reviewed in 1). Some of these peptides are secreted and can bind to the acetyltransferase complex APBB1/TIP60-promote transcriptional activation, while others form the protein basis of the amyloid plaques found in the brains of patients with Alzheimer 's disease. Mutations in the APP gene have been found in autosomal dominant Alzheimer's disease and cerebroarterial amyloidosis (cerebral amyloid angiopathy). Multiple mRNA transcript variants encoding several different APP isoforms have been described. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: ELISA: 1:100-1:1000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
