Cat no: A2300-04

Aprotinin, Bovine (US/North America) (Pancreatic trypsin inhibitor)

Aprotinin inhibits the activity of several proteolytic enzymes such as chymotrypsin, kallikrein, plasmin and trypsin. It is present in blood and in most tissues, with a high concentration in lung, inhibits pro-inflammatory cytokine release and maintains glycoprotein homeostasis. In platelets, aprotinin reduces glycoprotein loss (e.g., GpIb, GpIIb/IIIa), while in granulocytes it prevents the expression of pro-inflammatory adhesive glycoproteins.\nAprotinin is a natural proteinase inhibitor polypeptide consisting of 58 amino acids arranged in a single polypeptide chain, cross-linked by three disulfide bridges and having a molecular mass of 6512D.\n\nSolubility: \nColorless, clear, complete\nLoss on drying: \n(same/less than) 2.0%\nAbsorbance: \n(same/less than) 0.8\nHistamine: \n(same/less than)0.2ug/3EU\nActivity (on dried basis): \n(same/more than)5400KIU/mg\nProtein impurities of higher molecular mass: Complies\nBacterial endotooxins: None Detected\nAbnormal toxicity: Non-toxic\n\nStorage and Stability:\nLyophilized powder may be stored at -20 degrees C. Stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. Reconstitute with ddH2O. Aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
