Aquaporin 3 (AQP3, GLIP, Glycerol-transporting Integral Protein)

Forms a water-specific channel that provide kidney medullary collecting duct with high permeability to water, thereby permitting water to move in the direction of an osmotic gradient. May function as a water and urea exit mechanism in antidiuresis in collecting duct cells. Also slightly permeable to urea and glycerol. May play an important role in gastrointestinal tract water transport and in glycerol metabolism (By similarity).\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. \n\nRecommended Dilution: \nWestern Blot: 1:200 Rat kidney membranes. Identifies a 31kD and 40kD band. The large band may represent the glycosylated form of the protein. \nImmunohistochemistry: Mouse kidney sections. Dilutions should be made using a carrier protein such as BSA (1-3%).\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. \n\nControl Antigen: A3000-10A. Included free of charge with the antibody is 20ug of control antigen (lyophilized powder). Reconstitute with 100ul of deionized water. For negative control, preincubate 1ug of purified peptide with 1ug of antibody for one hour at RT. \n\nStorage and Stability:\nLyophilized powder may be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile 40-50% glycerol and store at -20 degrees C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
