Avidin is chromatographically purified from egg white. The extinction coefficient , E(1%) at 280nm is 15.5.
CAPACITY:
Binding activity of avidin is determined to be 11-15 units permg protein. One unit
of binding activity is defined as that amount of protein which binds 1ug of biotin
Applications:
Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications have not been tested.
Recommended Dilution:
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:
Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile 40-50% glycerol and store at -20 degrees C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
