A large body of evidence has implicated the amyloid precursor protein (APP) in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). The phosphorylation APP at Thr668 is thought to play a critical role in generation of the soluble APP (beta) and beta-amyloid peptide (abeta) which are the major components of senile plaques in patient brains inflicted with AD. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Additional info: Recognizes rat APP (Mr~115k). Immunolabeling of the APP protein band is completely blocked by preadsorption of the antibody with the peptide used as antigen. Species Crossreactivity: canine, human, mouse, and non-human primates based on 100% antigen sequence homology.
