Anthrax PA (Protective Antigen) and Anthrax LF (Lethal Factor), along with Anthrax EF (Edema Factor), are toxins produced by Bacillus anthracis. All three of the proteins must be present for toxic entry into cells. PA is secreted from Bacillus anthracis as an 83kD (PA83) protein which is cleaved by furin protease, releasing a 20kD fragment. The 63kD portion (PA63) of the cleavage product forms a heptamer, which binds the toxins LF and EF. This complex enters via receptor-mediated endocytosis where LF and EF exert their toxic effects. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: PA recombinant protein Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
