A novel gene, Novel Amplified in Breast Cancer-1 (NABC1) is implicated in breast cancer development. Breast tumor lines that harbor amplification of the cancer-related amplicon 20q13.2 display high levels of the NABC1 protein compared to normal human fibroblasts or a breast cancer line that does not overexpress the NABC1 mRNA. Alternate namesinclude Breast carcinoma amplified sequence 1, AIBC1, Amplified and overexpressed in breast cancer, breast carcinoma amplified sequence 1, Novel amplified in breast cancer 1
