BIOLASE(TM) Red is a formulation of our regular BIOLASE(TM) that contains a non-toxic and non-hazardous red dye. This allows users to check which tubes have polymerase added and facilitates the verification of adequate mixing, so it is particularly useful for high-throughput applications. Reactions containing BIOLASE(TM) Red can be loaded directly onto gels without needing to be mixed with a loading buffer, as they are sufficently dense to sink to the bottom of agarose gels unassisted. This saves time when working with multiple samples. The red dye migrates towards the positive electrode, thereby providing a means to monitor the progress of electrophoresis. Unit Definition: One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme that incorporates 10nmoles of dNTPs into acid-insoluble form in 30 minutes at 72 C under the following assay conditions: 25mM TAPS (tris-[hydroxymethyl]methyl-amino-propane-sulphonic acid, sodium salt), pH 9.3 at 25 C, 50mM KCI, 2mM MgCI2, 1mM beta-mercaptoethanol, 200uM of each dATP, dGTP, dTTP, 100uM dCTP (a mix of unlabelled and alpha 32P-labelled) and 12.5ug activated salmon sperm DNA in a final volume of 50ul.
