BRCA 1 contains at least two nuclear localization signals and is proposed to be a tumor suppressor protein. It is a serine phosphoprotein that undergoes hyperphosphorylation during late G1 and S phases of the cell cycle and is transiently dephosphorylated early after M phase. BRCA 1 protein alters in a qualitative and quantitative manner during cell cycle progression. The amount of BRCA protein is highest during S phase and remains elevated toward G2 / M, before it declines in early G1 phase. Inherited loss of BRCA 1 function confers an increased susceptibility for both breast and ovarian cancer. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
