BrdU is a thymidine analogue and when offered to proliferating cells it is incroporated into reduplicating DNA. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence, Immunohistochemistry and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunohistochemistry (Frozen, paraffin): 1:5-1:10 Dilute in 0.15M PBS, 1% BSA, 1% sodium-azide. Requires protease digestion of paraffin sections. Immunocytochemistry: Pulse labeling of dividing cells will allow the immunocytochemical identification of S-phase cells. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: Immunohistochemistry: Bromodeoxyuridine labeled cells. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

Additional info: Recognizes DNA in which BrdU has been incorporated. Reacts strongly with free or carrier-protein coupled BrdU but not with other nucleosides. Recognizes BrdU in denaturated (single stranded) DNA. 100% crossreactive with Jodo-Deoxy-Uridine (IrdU).
