c-erbB-2 is a membrane-associated oncoprotein having considerable sequence homology to EGFR. C-erbB-2 is the second member of the EGF receptor tyrosine kinase family of growth factor receptors. Overexpression of c-erbB-2/HER-2 is reportedly a marker of poor prognosis in node-positive and in defined subsets of node-negative breast cancer. Elevated levels of c-erbB-2/HER-2 has also been implicated in response to chemotherapy. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry (paraffin-embedded sections). Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Cellular Localization: Cell Membrane Positive Control: Breast Carcinoma Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
