The protooncogene Myc, homologous to the transforming gene v-myc of myelocytomatosis virus MC29 is basically a transcription regulator activating various genes like PAI-1, alpha-prothymosin etc. Myc contains a basic region, helix-loop-helix zipper (B-HLZ-LZ) DNA binding domain, a hallmark of transcription factor that dimerizes with its partner, Max, and regulates multiple cellular functions including cell cycle, cell growth, differentiation, apoptosis, metabolism, and angiogenesis via transcription of downstream target genes. The pathological role of the protein has been observed in hematopoietic tumors, leukemias and lymphomas, including Burkitt lymphoma and B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Human Myc gene is mapped to chromosome 8q24.21. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:500-1:1000 Immunohistochemistry (paraffin): 1:50-1:100 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: Ovary cancer cells Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
