Immunohistochemical staining with calcitonin antibody has proven to be an effective way of demonstrating calcitonin-producing cells in the thyroid. C-cell hyperplasia and medullary thyroid carcinomas stain positive for calcitonin. Studies of calcitonin have resulted in the identification of a wide spectrum of C-cell proliferative abnormalities. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin, frozen): 1:200-1:1000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: Medullary Carcinoma of Thyroid Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
