Calcitonin is produced by the C-cells of the thyroid. This antibody can be used in the diagnosis of medullary thyroid carcinoma and of C-cell hyperplasia. Calcitonin may also occur in bronchial carcinoids and in tumors of adrenal medulla and of pancreatic islets.
Applications:
Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry and Ouchterlony Double Immunodiffusion. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:
Immunohistochemistry (Frozen, paraffin without proteolytic treatment): 1:50 using the Indirect Method.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
