Caldesmon is an actin and myosin binding protein. It plays a major role in the regulation of smooth muscle and non-muscle contractile events. At least 5 isoforms are known from alternate splicing. High molecular weight h-caldesmon (isoform 1) of 120-150kD is predominantly expressed in smooth muscles. Lower molecular weight caldesmon l-caldesmon (isoforms 2,3,4 and 5) of 61-70kD is more abundant in non-muscle tissues and cells. This antibody reacts specifically with h-caldesmon
Applications:
Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot . Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:
Western Blot: 1-2 ug/ml
Immunohistochemistry (formalin, paraffin): 2.0-4.0ug/ml.
Optimal dilution determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:
Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile 40-50% glycerol and store at -20 degrees C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
