Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA) is synthesized during development in the fetal gut, and is re-expressed in increased amounts in intestinal carcinomas and several other tumors. Antibodies to CEA are useful in identifying the origin of various metastatic adenocarcinomas and in distinguishing pulmonary adenocarcinomas (60 to 70% are CEA+) from pleural mesotheliomas (rarely or weakly CEA+). Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: ELISA: No reaction is observed with normal human plasma stripped of CEA in double antibody sandwich ELISA. Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin): 1:75-1:200. Enzymatic antigen retrieval is recommended. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.e Positive Control: Hepatic metastasis of colon adenocarcinoma Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
