Cathepsin D is an aspartyl protease expressed in all cells and has a role on the degradation of proteins in lysosomes. It is initially expressed as an inactive 52kD precursor and activated by proteolysis.
Applications:
Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:
Western Blot: 1:1000. Band at 34kD and weaker band at 52kD
Immunohistochemistry (Frozen sections and paraffin-embedded sections): 1:200 for paraffin sections
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Recommended Positive Controls:
Human breast carcinoma or cell line extract.
Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile 40-50% glycerol, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
