The CD14 molecule has been reported to be involved in the endotoxin mediated release of Tumor Necrosis Factor alpha by monocytic cells (see S.D. Wright et al.). Inhibits the endotoxin induced release of TNF by monocytes because it blocks the binding of LPS-LBP to monocytes. CD14 is present on most monocytic and macrophage like cell types: monocytes, macrophages, Kupffer cells, pleural phagocytic cells and dendritic reticular cells. CD14 is present in low density on a subpopulation granulocytes and activated or transformed B-cells. The antibody reacts with both soluble and monocyte surface CD14. Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive control: Peripheral Blood Monocytes Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
