CD14 is a glycophosphatidylinositol-linked protein, which is part of the LPS receptor complex. CD14 binds lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and as such, acts as a pattern recognition receptor (PRR). CD14 has also been suggested to mediate phagocytosis of bacteria an apoptotic cells. CD14 is involved in the endotoxin mediated release of Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha by monocytic cells. CD14 is present on most monocytic and macrophage like cell types: monocytes, macrophages, Kupffer cells, pleural phagocytic cells and dendritic reticular cells. CD14 is present at low density on a subpopulation granulocytes and activated or transformed B-cells. Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry, and for inhibition of biological activity of sCD14. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Flow Cytometry: 1:50 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
