CD27 is a member of the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily expressed in the thymus and spleen, but not in non-lymphoid tissues. CD27 acts as a ligand for CD70, which is expressed in T and B cells, and acts as a costimulatory signal in lymphocyte proliferation and immunoglobulin production. It is also involved in apoptotic processes, through its interaction with Siva.
