CD4 is a 55kD protein, also known as L3T4 or T4. It is a member of the Ig superfamily, primarily expressed on most thymocytes, a subset of T cells, and weakly on macrophages and dendritic cells. It acts as a coreceptor with the TCR during T cell activation and thymic differentiation by binding MHC class II and associating with the protein tyrosin kinase, lck. This antibody is able to block CD4 mediated cell adhesion and T cell activation. It is also useful for in vivo and in vitro depletion of CD4+ T cells. This antibody blocks binding of the anti-mouse CD4 monoclonal antibodies C2255-31K and C2255-31L, but not C2255-31M antibody. This monoclonal antibody inhibits various responses of T helper cells to antigenic or mitogenic stimuli. Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Flow Cytometry: (same/less than)0.25ug/10e6 cells in 100ul volume Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
