Leukocyte common antigen is expressed exclusively on the surface of hematolymphoid cells and their progenitors, including T and B lymphocytes, granulocytes, monocytes, and macrophages. Mature erythrocytes and megakaryocytes do not express CD45. The CD45 antibody is an important component of the antibody panel used to distinguish hematolymphoid neoplasms from non-hematolymphoid neoplasms, including undifferentiated or anaplastic large cell tumors (malignant lymphoma, melanoma, and carcinoma). In a study of nasophryngeal biopsies, LCA staining was positive for all malignant melanomas and negative for all nasopharyngeal carcinomas. LCA may be used together with cytokeratin antibodies to identify the cell-lineage of anaplastic tumors, demonstrating the ability to identify lymphoma and carcinoma in up to 88% of cases in a single study. Consists of a mixture of three monoclonal antibodies: CD45, CD45RA and CD45RB. Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: Crossreaction occurs with an intracellular 60kD protein of unknown identity like other anti-CD45RA Mabs. Immunohistochemistry: No treatment of paraffin sections is necessary. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

Additional info: Recognizes the 205-220kD form of CD45. Present on peripheral B-lymphocytes as well as on a subpopulation of the peripheral T-lymphocytes. The population of CD4+ T-lymphocytes carrying the CD45RA determinant is the non activated suppressor-inducer subset of CD4 T-lymphocytes.
