The CD49f antigen, molecular weight 30/31, 120kD (GP Ic or VLA-6 alpha-chain), can form distinct complexes with either the CD29 antigen (GP IIa or VLA beta chain), resulting in the VLA-6 (alpha-6, beta-1) complex which is expressed on human platelets, or with the beta-4 integrin resulting in the alpha-6, beta-4 complex which is expressed on various human epithelial cells. Platelet VLA-6 functions as a laminin receptor and platelet adhesion to laminin is inhibited by this antibody. Applications: Suitable for use in Indirect Immunofluorescence, Flow Cytometry, Fluorescent Microscopy and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunohistochemistry: Reacts with epithelial cells of a variety of tissues, peripheral nerves, microvascular endothelial cells, placenta cyto- and syncytotrophoblasts. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
