Human CD56 is an adhesion molecule from the Ig superfamily which is restricted to NK cells in the immune system. It is believed that NK cells form a first line of defense against tumor cells and cells infected with bacteria and viruses.
Applications:
Suitable for use in ELISA and Flow Cytometry. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:
Flow Cytometry: 1:50 - 5x10e5 ficoll prepared human peripheral blood mononuclear cells were washed and pre-incubated 10 min with 20ul human IgG at 250ug/ml (to block nonspecific binding), after which they were incubated 45 min on ice with 80ul of anti-CD56/APC at a 1:50 dilution (10ug/ml). Cells were washed three times, fixed and analyzed by FACS. A net 16% sub population of the cells stained positive with a mean shift of 1.4 log10 fluorescent units when compared to a Mouse IgG1/APC negative control at a similar concentration. Binding was blocked when cells were pre-incubated with 20ul of 0.5mg/ml anti-CD56 antibody.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4 degrees C before opening. DO NOT FREEZE! Stable at 4 degrees C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use. Stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. APC is light sensitive.
