CD96 promotes natural killer (NK) cell adhesion to target cells expressing the poliovirus receptor (PVR or CD155). Furthermore CD96 stimulates cytotoxicity of activated NK cells, and mediates acquisition of PVR from target cells. This means NK cells have due to the receptor CD96 a dual receptor system that recognizes nectins and nectin-like molecules on target cells and mediates NK cells adhesion and triggering of effector functions. As PVR is highly expressed in certain tumors, this receptor system may be critical for NK cell recognition of tumors. Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry and Funcional Studies. Blocks binding of soluble poliovirus receptor (PVR) to NK92 cells. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Flow Cytometry: 1:50 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
