CDC2 protein belongs to the cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) family. CDC2 activity is critical for orderly progression of G2/M phase during cell division. It forms CDC2-cyclin B1 complex and becomes active upon phosphorylation on threonine 161 and dephosphorylation at threonine 14 and tyrosine 15 residues. Cell progresses through M phase only when all of the above took place. In addition, CDC2 is involved in chromosome condensation, disassembly of the nuclear lamina, and formation of the mitotic spindle. Recent findings indicate that functional CDC2-cyclin B complex positively regulates repair mechanism of DNA double-strand breaks. Thus, CDC2 helps to overcome negative effects of ionizing radiation. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Dot Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: ELISA: 0.1-1ug/ml Western Blot: 0.5-2ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
