CERK, which phosphorylates Cer to produce ceramide 1-phosphate (C1P), was initially described as a Ca2+-stimulated lipid kinase that copurified with brain synaptic vesicles. CERK activity has been reported in HL60 cells, mast cells, and neutrophils. CERK is involved in phagolysosome formation in polymorphonuclear leukocytes and also in liposome fusion. C1P has been reported to have mitogenic effects. More recently, C1P was found to induce arachidonic acid release and prostanoid synthesis. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunohistochemistry (paraffin): 20ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: Human brain, cortex Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
