The transcription factor myb proto-oncogene protein (Cmyb) is a member of the myb gene family. The myb family of genes encode nuclear proteins that serve as transcriptional transactivators. Proteins encoded by myb genes exhibit a tripartite structure with an N-terminal DNA-binding domain, a central transactivation domain and a C-terminal regulatory domain. Cmyb is the counterpart to the oncogenic V-myb proteins expressed by two avian leukemia viruses, which induce acute myeloid leukemias in birds. Transgenic expression of cmyb has been shown to not induce tumors in mice. Inducible cmyb knockout experiments have suggested that cmyb is essential to the development of hematopoietic lineages. Cmyb in zebrafish has not been well characterized in scientific literature, but has been suggested to play a role in marking nascent hematopoietic stem cells during early embryonic development. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: ELISA: 1:5000-1:20,000 Western Blot: 1:500-1:1000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
