C6, one of the components of the terminal complement complex (TCC), also know as the membrane attack complex (MAC). Proteolytic cleavage of C5 by C5 convertase generates C5b which initiates assembly of the C5b-9 MAC. This complex is assembled from five precursor molecules in the serum, finalized with the polymerization of C9 which accompanies insertion of the complex into the cell membrane causing cellular lysis. Polymorphonuclear leukocytes represent a major source of C6. Cellular Localization: Secreted Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry (Fr). Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
