Connexin 26 (CX26, Gap Junction Beta 2 Protein, CXB-2)

Intercellular communication through gap junctions plays an important role in a variety of cellular processes including \nhomeostasis, morphogenesis, cell differentiation, and growth control. Gap junctions are transmembrane channels that \nserve to directly link neighboring cells by mediating the exchange of low-MW <1200 kD metabolites, ions, and second messengers. Gap junctions are formed by the interaction of hemichannels (connexons) on adjacent cells. The \nconnexon itself is composed of a hexameric assembly of connexin proteins. Connexins are highly homologous proteins \nencoded by a multigene family. The connexins exhibit similar structural features, which include a cytoplasmic amino terminal \nregion, four transmembrane domains, two extracellular loops, and a carboxy-terminal cytoplasmic tail of varying length. \n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilutions:\nELISA (Immunogen): 0.1-1.0ug/ml \nImmunohistochemistry (Rat): 10-20ug/ml \nWestern Blot (Mouse and Rat): 1-2ug/ml \nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
