Connexin 37(CX37, Gap Junction Alpha 4 Protein, CXA-4)

One gap junction consists of a cluster of closely packed pairs of transmembrane channels, the connexons, through which materials of low MW diffuse from one cell to a neighboring cell. SUBUNIT: A connexon is composed of a hexamer of connexins. \n\nCellular Localization:\nMembrane; multi-pass membrane protein. \n\nTissue Specificity:\nHighly expressed in lung. Belongs to the connexin family. Alpha-type (group II) subfamily.\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Immunofluorescence and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. Western blotting of cell membarnes of COS cells transiently transfected with cDNA encoding Connexin-37 shows two bands of molecular weight 36 and 37kD which are abolished by preincubation with the immunising peptide. No such bands are detected in western blots of membranes from non-transfected cells or cells transfected with cDNA encoding Connexin-40, Connexin-43 or Connexin-45. Species Crossreactivity: This antiserum recognizes rat and mouse Connexin-37 protein.
